Paul Garth
Senior Consultant

Paul graduated in law and arts (sociology) from the University of Tasmania.  Shortly after finishing his degree, he moved to Melbourne and took up work in the public liability field, consulting to major insurance companies on liability issues.

Paul eventually headed to Japan, with thoughts of convalescing for a few months and taking a bit of time to consider his career direction.  Five years later he realised he was still there.

While in Japan Paul worked in the HR function of a major public company, running and helping to formulate their training and development programs.  Through the same company Paul returned to Australia in 2002, where he managed the southern states recruitment office, sending hundreds of people to Japan to work over a period of three and a half years.  In this position he gained invaluable knowledge of behavioural based interviewing and the inflexibility of Japanese bureaucrats.

Having discovered a passion and flair for assisting others with their career and having never quite abandoned thoughts of rejoining the legal fraternity, Paul took up an opportunity to recruit legal professionals with a multi-national recruitment agency in 2006.  Paul has recruited from partner level to paralegals; he has worked for immense international firms down to small regional practices and in-house teams.  With over 4 years recruitment experience, Paul moved to Burgess Paluch, excited by the prosect of working with a business that holds the same recruitment values as himself.

Paul is a closet musician and that is where he should remain. His wife, an excellent drummer and pianist, has banned him from singing to their kids for fear that they too will become tone deaf. He plays guitar badly, the Shakuhatchi OK and the didgeridoo reasonably well. His other love is vintage motorbikes. He will finish restoring his 10 year project next year. Promise.
