Archies Footwear is a proudly Australian-owned online retail brand known for creating some of the world’s most comfortable, supportive and stylish footwear and iconic thongs. Designed and developed by an Australian Physiotherapist, they are proud to be stocked in over 4,500 locations globally including some of Australia’s leading physiotherapist, podiatrist, and other health practices.
The Role
This role will see you working closely with a down-to-earth and collaborative CEO and leadership team, and play an integral part in supporting the business and helping it achieve its commercial goals and protect its legal interests. This position is essential to ensuring Archies Footwear remains complaint, protected, and strategically positioned for future growth in a competitive global market.
As the sole legal counsel for the business, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the company’s legal and compliance requirements and managing external counsel. While this is a broad role, there is a considerable intellectual property element, including trademark and design registration, patents, licensing, and IP infringement. You will use your drafting skills to full effect as you negotiate, review, and draft commercial contracts including distributor and retail supply agreements, and advise on broader areas such as compliance, IT, regulatory and employment law. As Archies retails globally you will be exposed to both local and overseas markets and you will relish in the opportunity to apply your skills internationally.
The Lawyer we Seek
This role would suite a quality lawyer with 4-8 years PAE currently in private practice or already working in-house. To be successful in this role you will possess sound legal and commercial acumen, have a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and a “can-do” attitude. You will be an excellent communicator and problem-solver, and someone who can work both independently and in a team. Tech savvy and motivated, with drive and ambition, you will have a pro-active and solutions oriented mindset, be willing to innovate and use technology to streamline and problem solve.
