Thomas is a Senior Consultant with Burgess Paluch Legal Recruitment and has previously practiced in employment law representing a major Commonwealth department and with the Fair Work Commission. He has also worked in immigration law at Australian firm, Holding Redlich.
Thomas focuses largely on the private practice markets in Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra, and works closely with top-tier, large national and international, mid-tier and highly rated boutique firm clients. He also assists client companies with their in-house roles.
Adept at handling often challenging client assignments, Thomas also appreciates the sensitivities required when dealing with lawyers at all levels, from Partners to those in the early years of their career. His approach with both clients and lawyers is transparent and efficient, and he regularly takes on new clients and lawyers based on strong word of mouth referrals.
Beyond his role with Burgess Paluch Legal Recruitment, Thomas is the current Vice President of the Law Institute of Victoria's Young Lawyers Section, and sits on the Young Lawyers Executive Committee, Young Lawyers Professional Development Committee (he was co-chair in 2016) and the Young Lawyers Social Committee. Thomas also writes the monthly careers column for the Law Institute Journal, and contributes regularly to the Law Institute of Victoria’s Young Lawyers Journal and Young Lawyers Blog where he focuses on professional development matters. In addition, Thomas has chaired several CPD sessions and chaired or presented at careers events for both junior and mid-level lawyers.
Thomas retains a keen interest in the development and progression of the legal profession, both in Australia and internationally.
In his spare time, Thomas enjoys keeping fit in the gym and running around Albert Park or Botanical Gardens, weekend escapes out of Melbourne, and volunteering.
