Rare opportunity! Household name inhouse role for a strong senior employment/Industrial relations lawyer. Interesting mix of matters.
Our client is a leading company. This household name with a large and diverse workforce and first rate HR practices and systems seeks an experienced employment/IR lawyer with between 8-15 years PAE gained at a reputable law firm or in-house, to lead a team of employment practitioners.
The role will see you join and lead a strong and friendly team, reporting to a down-to-earth Chief Executive. You will be responsible for providing advice on a broad range of employment law and IR issues. You will enjoy autonomy with support as you work with senior stakeholders and provide advice on enterprise bargaining and high-level complex employment law issues including unfair dismissal, HR and workplace relations legal advice, strategy and negotiations. Work will include:
- Responding to complex and varied employment-related inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate guidance.
- Overseeing the development, negotiation, and implementation of enterprise agreements, providing strategic direction and support.
- Guiding the interpretation and application of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and Fair Work Regulations 2009 (Cth), ensuring consistent and compliant advice across the team.
- Supervising the provision of advice on employment law and human resource management principles, ensuring alignment with best practice and legislative requirements.
- Coordinating the delivery of support and resources related to Commonwealth and Victorian employment legislation, including occupational health and safety, equal opportunity, and anti-discrimination law.
- Overseeing the research, development, and quality assurance of employment related resource materials including podcasts, videos, guidelines, templates, and sample documents.
- Leading the planning and delivery of professional development initiatives such as briefings, seminars, workshops, and webinars on employment relations and HR topics.
- Representing in high-level discussions with unions and in proceedings before the Fair Work Commission and equal opportunity tribunals, as appropriate.
- Managing administrative processes and support functions related to employment relations, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance.
To be successful in this role, you will be commercially minded with strong technical skills, however, it will be your honed interpersonal skills and pragmatic approach that will ensure your success.
